Hiiker pro subscriptions can now download a GPX file for the trail. A GPX file is a file containing GPS information about the trail. It can be used on GPS devices such as a stand-alone garmin gps or another GPS app.
**Note: If you are just looking for offline functionality in the app this is not what you are looking for. For offline maps tap the Download for Offline button below the View Trail Map button.
The GPX data is ultra high-quality that is checked by the Hiiker team.
The file can be large, particularly for longer trails. All GPX downloads also include elevation data for every point of the trail utilising Space Shuttle SRTM data.

How to download a GPX file on Hiiker?
To download simply tap on the download button, and after 2-3 seconds it will present you with a dialogue. You will have lots of options to send or save it once it is finished loading.

I’ve paid for the hiiker subscription but I don’t seem to have any of the additional tools like adding waypoints…..why is this?
It seems to be a waste of my money. I wasn’t able to use any of the features available after paying for it.
Are you able to help?

Hi Kevin! Sorry only seeing this now. I think you might be on Android. There was a short delay getting version 3.0 released. We have a beta live as of today, the full release won’t be any later than Tuesday. If you want I can get you in the Beta straight away where you will have the full new features (though it might be slightly unstable) or the full release. Sorry about the delay, of course I can issue a refund if you prefer.
All the best
Paul

Hi Paul,
Thank you for your response.
It was not explicitly clear that the upgrade wasn’t yet available on Android until a later date. I do not get a yellow tick for maps that have been downloaded.
It is a shame it is not yet available as we just completed the Great Glen Way, and are due to start the east highland way tomorrow. The advertised functionality would of been great.
If you are able to provide the beta straight away that would be fantastic.
Thanks,
Kevin

Hi Paul, I have tried to download the GPX file of a hike I did today and use it to create a record of the hike on Strava. Unfortunately the file doesn’t seem to include any time information so I have been unable to use it on Strava. I am using the free version of Hiker currently on an Android phone and am wondering if upgrading to the Pro version would make any difference.

Hey!
Paul here. I think you are on the Android version, is that correct?

Yes Paul, Android 8.0.0 on a Samsung S7.
It was never a problem when using VR or more recently OA.

Hi,
Will get a fix out ASAP. If you are looking for something more urgently, and are willing to share the link. You could send it to me and I can export from iOS, or else I will get it sorted on Android in under 48 hours.

Thanks Paul. No big deal this time but longer term it would be handy to be able to use the GPX files on Strava.
Happy New Year,
Liam

Hi Liam,
Yes this was sorted on the apps. The apps now export time stamps.

Hi Paul, I’m afraid this is still not working. I recorded the outward leg of a walk yesterday on theOA app on my Android phone and the return leg on the Hiiker app. I was able to use the OA GPX file on Strava but not the Hiiker one as it stated that time information was missing from the file. I can send you on the two files if you like. Liam
