You may have seen people out walking or hiking with a backpack or rucksack and wondered what on earth they are doing. They are “rucking”! Rucking is a great way to get fit, and it has many other benefits too. In this blog post, we will tell you all about rucking and why you should try it for yourself.
Rucking is a low-impact form of cardio exercise that is suitable for all ages and fitness levels. It is easy on the joints and can be done anywhere there is a flat surface to walk on. All you need is a rucksack or backpack filled with some weight, and away you go! The weight in the rucksack provides resistance, which makes the exercise more challenging and helps to tone the muscles.

Rucking can be done at your own pace, so it’s perfect if you are just starting out on your fitness journey or if you are looking for a workout that won’t leave you feeling completely exhausted at the end. Even better, rucking is a great way to meet new people and make friends as there are often rucking groups that meet up regularly to train together.

So what are you waiting for? Grab your rucksack, fill it with some weight, and get out there and start rucking!
Using HiiKER to plan your Rucking Routes can really get you ready for a good workout. Find a route with the perfect elevation gain and distance for your session, or create your own with our planner. Then hit the trail with your weighted backpack. You’ll have your route saved offline, so even if you go for the more remote trails, you won’t need to worry about no coverage while you’re rucking.

Rucking is a great way to get fit, lose weight, tone up, and meet new people. It’s suitable for all ages and fitness levels, and it can be done anywhere. All you need is a backpack or rucksack filled with some weight, and away you go! Give it a try today – you might just surprise yourself at how much you enjoy it!
Looks like a pretty cool way to try and keep up the hill fitness while not up in the hills!

If you are rucking up the hills I suggest using water rather than weights so if you feel the need to reduce weight then its much better for the environment if you leave just water behind. I fill 3liter milk cans when rucking esp. up the hills you never know when you need to get out of dodge in a hurry and reduce weight ! Oh and if you get thirsty then your sorted!
