Right, this is a good one.
The Great Outdoors Magazine, the UK outdoor magazine that’s been independently testing gear for 40+ years, has named HiiKER the Best in Test hiking app in its 2026 round-up. Best in Test. Ahead of a field that includes OS Maps, Gaia GPS, Topo GPS, MapOut, Komoot and Outdooractive.
For an independent, founder-led team going up against apps backed by national mapping agencies and serious funding, we pretty pleased to say the least. 😅… But I can’t say it’s unexpected. I see the dedication that our team puts into this product each and every day, and this is just a validation of that. So my first thanks is to them for all the long nights and tough days.
Here’s the part I actually care about, though. The reviewer didn’t just like HiiKER, he liked the specific things we’ve spent the last couple of years rebuilding because YOU told us to. We spent months rebuilding our mapping system from the ground up to make them quicker, more reliable and higher resolution. We rebuilt our hike planner to make it the strongest on the market. The whole app is faster and cleaner to use, and we have added countless features built for hikers. Our new features and improvements come directly from feedback… not from shareholders or external pressures… From HiiKER users. So this award isn’t really ours, it’s a shared one. Thank you.
And this is only the beginning. We have had our quick celebration, now we’re already on to the next great new features and improvements, so expect further releases very soon.
If you’ve been meaning to give PRO+ a go, our sale is on right now It feels like a fitting week for it.
