HiiKER is Now Satellite-Ready with T-Mobile T-Satellite

No matter how far the trail takes you — deep into the backcountry, across wild coastline, or up a lonely mountain pass — you can now bring the full power of HiiKER with you.

T-Mobile has announced the rollout of T-Satellite, giving compatible phones direct satellite data access in areas with no cell signal. We’re thrilled to share that the latest version of the HiiKER app is now fully compatible. With T-Satellite coverage, a supported device, and the newest version of HiiKER, you can now stay connected — even when you’re miles beyond the nearest network.

What this means for HiiKER users

Satellite data unlocks core parts of the HiiKER experience that were previously out of reach offline. With T-Satellite, you can now:

  • View any map layer, anywhere. Access detailed HiiKER maps — including premium layers from Ordnance Survey, Harvey Maps, and more — even when you’re far beyond coverage.
  • Use live tools on the trail. Check trail conditions, elevation profiles, or weather data in real time, wherever you are.
  • Stay safely connected with the HiiKER Live Locator. Our Live Locator now works seamlessly over satellite data, so you can share your real-time position with family, friends, or hiking partners. Whether you’re crossing a remote ridge or trekking multi-day routes, they’ll be able to see your progress — and know you’re safe.

Some data-heavy features (like photo uploads or large offline map downloads) aren’t yet supported over satellite connections, but this is just the start. As satellite technology evolves, we’ll continue tuning HiiKER to make sure you can depend on it wherever your adventure leads.

Ready to give it a try?

If you’re on a T-Mobile T-Satellite-enabled plan, update your HiiKER app to the latest version and head somewhere remote — you’ll still have access to live maps, weather tools, and Live Locator updates when the signal bars vanish.

We can’t wait to see what trails you’ll explore next, now with the added reach of satellite connectivity.
